Statoil, Oseberg Field Centre: Involving the end-users
For two years, Epsis was a member of the core team of “The Future Project” at the Oseberg Field Centre. This included a program of Integrated Operations projects.
During the first phase, we performed a critical performance analysis that was the basis for further actions. Our role was in project management, regarding the implementation of collaboration solutions and nearby office facilities. This included functional and ergonomic design, negotiations for a contract for audiovisual equipment, coordination of construction work, building of the facilities, testing and documentation.

The implementation was carried out for operation and maintenance, as well as petroleum technology, both on- and offshore. Since commissioning, our project manager has been responsible for training and follow-up. Training involves the new work processes and how to use the software and collaboration facilities.
The projects’ key success factors were:
- Early involvement of the end-users, the workers’ representatives and the HSE management
- Clear ownership of the solution
- A holistic approach to the challenges
- The realisation of quick wins to maintain project momentum
